The Tumwater Teens Spring Break Volunteer Trip: Our first day of work: April 4, 2011
Here we are in the Lower Ninth Ward working on Brenda Dupre's home. Most of the day was spent priming and painting the walls, or doing some drywall. We looked at the house next door - untouched since Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. St. Bernard Project has rebuilt over 350 homes so far - more than any other nonprofit in the New Orleans area.

Tumwater Teens - Off to New Orleans
Tumwater Teens are showing off their t-shirts with sponsor logos on the back!
The Tumwater Teens left yesterday for New Orleans! Tomorrow we start our work rebuilding a home destroyed when the levees failed after Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. St. Bernard Project has rebuilt over 350 homes to date! The Teens have been busy since November getting ready for this trip. First, they raised about $800 for St. Bernard Project in their Home for the Holidays campaign. Then they started putting on garage sales, and selling candy bars, and recruiting local sponsors to help pay for their trip. They were able to fundraise for approximately $350 of the $700 cost for the trip.
Tumwater Teens want to give a special thanks to their local business sponsors:
- Titus Will Olympia, a car deal at the Olympia auto mall
- South Sound Women's Center, offers medical care for women
- Dr. Joseph de Jesus, DDS, PS, Orthodontics for Children and Adults
